Gulliver's Travels - Gulliver washes ashore on Lilliput and attempts to prevent war between that tiny kingdom and its equally minuscule rival, Blefuscu, as well as smooth the way for the romance between the Princess and Prince of the opposing lands. In this he is alternately aided and hampered by the Lilliputian town crier and general fussbudget, Gabby. A life-threatening situation develops when the bumbling trio of Blefuscu spies, Sneak, Snoop, and Snitch, manage to steal Gulliver's pistol.
Presented in HD with color enhancement by BlackstarTV! This films truly looks amazing and is very entertaining. This is not only a great film is has historical significance.
Gulliver's Travels was the first American animated feature from a studio other than Disney and only the second overall, the first being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). The film was released in December 1939. Rival producer Walt Disney was reportedly dismissive of its quality, but he pushed back the release of his own animated feature Pinocchio (1940) by three months (to late February 1940) to avoid direct competition with "Gulliver". After viewing Gulliver's Travels, Walt Disney reportedly said, "We can do better than that with our second-string animators."
Another interesting tidbit about this film is the fact it was "rotoscoped", a method devised by the Fleischers where the drawing was achieved by tracing over the movements of a live actor.
